Important message about home lateral flow tests

Dear Parents/Carers,

Now that we are coming to the end of our in-school COVID-19 testing programme we are giving students their home test kits. These consist of two boxes, each containing 3 tests, and an instruction booklet. Please read the instruction booklet carefully before starting the test. If you require more information about the test, see: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/understanding-lateral-flow-antigen-testing-for-people-without-symptoms

These tests are only for people not showing symptoms of COVID-19. If your child has symptoms you must not send him/her to school and should book a test at a test centre.

Home testing kits are only being distributed to those students for whom we have received consent for testing. If you have not given consent for your child to be tested, but would like to receive a home testing kit, please contact us on office@cressex.org

Tests are being sent home with students as follows:

·         Thursday 18 March     Year 10, Year 11 and Sixth Form

·         Friday 19 March         Year 7 and Year 8

·         Monday 22 March      Year 9

Ideally, students should take two tests a week, spaced apart. They can take the test either in the evening or in the morning before they come into school. The results of the test become visible in 30 minutes.

The result of each test needs to be reported using the NHS Test & Trace self-report website: https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result

If your child tests positive you must tell the school as soon as possible. The child then needs to stay at home and self-isolate, in line with current NHS/DFE guidance.

If the result of the test is unclear (void) the child will need to do another one.

Taking part in testing is voluntary however we do strongly encourage all students to take part in the national testing programme.

I have sent copies of our privacy notice with a previous mailing. Let me know if you would like to receive a further copy.

Please contact the school via office@cressex.org , if you have any questions or concerns about home testing.

Thank you for your support.
