Year 7 Rising Mathematicians Festival at University of Reading
At the start of the Summer Term, 15 students from Year 7 were invited to take part in the Rising Mathematicians Festival led by Axiom Maths at the University of Reading. The day was interactive, with students competing against their peers in small groups then working collaboratively to identify the best solution to a problem.
Following the maths activities, students were amazed with a tour of the university, particularly impressed with the library and astroturf!
To conclude the day, students took part in a meteorology lecture where they investigated the impact of wind resistance on paper airplanes and predicting changes in weather.
Overall, students experienced a new world of Maths and to quote one student - ‘this trip has made me like Maths so much more’.
