Hooked on Making Safe Choices: Year 9 Learn the Realities of Vaping and Smoking

Our Year 9 students took part in an impactful educational experience delivered by the performance in education company Hooked. The group presented their acclaimed production “Hooked”, a thought provoking drama designed to raise awareness about the risks and realities of smoking and vaping among young people.

The performance followed a relatable storyline, blending drama with real life scenarios to help students understand how easily seemingly small decisions can have long term consequences. Through engaging characters and situations, the show explored topics such as peer pressure, the health implications of nicotine use, the influence of social media, and the common myths that surround vaping.

After the performance, students took part in an interactive workshop where they were encouraged to reflect on what they had seen, ask questions, and discuss ways to make positive, informed choices. The facilitators from Hooked guided students through conversations about making safe decisions, supporting friends, and building confidence to resist pressures they may encounter inside and outside of school.
