Important NEW message about the start of term, January 2022, from David Hood, Headteacher
Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
Firstly, a very happy New Year to you all. Here’s hoping that 2022 is the year when things finally start to feel more normal again.
Here are some important messages for the start of term. Please read them carefully.
Face coverings (masks)
The Government has just changed the guidance on this. Because of the spread of the Omicron variant, it is now “strongly recommended” that students wear face coverings when in classrooms, as well as in communal areas. No student will be forced to wear a face covering if they do not wish to or are not able to. But they should wear one if they can. Students should ideally bring their own, but we do also have a supply in school. The Government has emphasised that this is a temporary measure.
Lateral flow tests (LFD tests)
Parents/carers, please continue to support your child/ren to take regular lateral flow tests at home. All students should take a lateral flow test before they return to school on Thursday 6 January – either in school on Wednesday 5 January (if booked) or at home. Students must not come to school if they have Covid symptoms or a positive LFD test. In either of these cases, a PCR test should be booked.
Students may now return to school 7 days after a positive PCR test, if they do not have a temperature and have tested negative with LFD tests on the 6th and the 7th day after the positive PCR test. If you are unsure whether you are able to send your child school, please contact us and we will do our best to advise.
Tuesday 4 January 2022 – Staff Training. School closed for students.
Wednesday 5 January 2022 – Lateral Flow testing for students who have booked. No lessons.
Thursday 6 January 2022 – School restarts for students.
With best wishes,
