Subject introduction:

The study of Art is a creative and exploratory journey. The Art Department aims to provide an exciting and stimulating learning experience. Projects are designed to stretch and challenge our learners, encouraging independent and creative development.

The schemes of work are constantly reviewed and improved to cater for all learning levels and skills.

Rewards and competitions

The Art Department runs several competitions, both internally and externally during the school year. There is our annual Christmas card competition.  Year 10 took part in the ‘Masks’ Awareness Programme (in participation with Bucks Open Studios), which resulted in one of our student’s exhibiting her artwork at The Gateway Centre, Aylesbury. A selection of students work from Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 is submitted to the Buckinghamshire Art Society Young Artist Award.

The Art Department provides opportunities for students to exhibit and celebrate their work with ‘Artist of the Month’ Award. We reward outstanding work with achievement points, Art prizes and achievement certificates. Students are encouraged to engage fully with their creative abilities by making the Art Department available every break and lunchtime for our drop-in Art Club.
