Cressex Community School celebrating positive Ofsted report
Cressex Community School in High Wycombe has been judged as ‘good’ with some ‘impressive areas’ in its latest Ofsted inspection.
Inspectors identified very significant strengths at the school, in Holmer Lane, High Wycombe, and were particularly impressed with pupils’ progress, saying GCSE results for 2018 indicate children made ‘much stronger progress than that found nationally’.
Inspectors also complimented pupils’ behaviour, saying the school children were ‘charming, confident, respectful and welcoming’, concluding that the school had an ‘ambitious and aspirational vision for its pupils’ and the school’s stated belief in ‘the power of education to transform lives was tangible’.
Ofsted reported that standards had also continued to rise since the previous inspection, in July 2014. The report noted that the school offers a broad and balanced curriculum that promotes pupils’ academic and pastoral learning well and is exceptionally well supplemented by extra-curricular opportunities, including those provided by its Cooperative Trust members, Buckinghamshire New University; Wycombe Abbey School; and The Henley College.
Headteacher David Hood said: “We were delighted that the inspection has confirmed that the school continues to provide a good and, in many respects, excellent education for our students. It follows on from our excellent GCSE results in 2018 which were the highest of all non-selective schools in High Wycombe.
“This report reflects the commitment, teamwork and dedication of all our staff. We are also so very proud of all our pupils and their excellent conduct.
“We continue to drive for success and this is a real endorsement of what we are doing in partnership with our entire school community, including parents, trustees and governors.”
