Cressex Community School Celebrates Success
Cressex Community School has welcomed the publication of the Department of Education’s Secondary School’s Performance Tables this week, which have highlighted the continued rise of the school.
According to official government figures just released, students at Cressex made good overall progress and an above average proportion of students gained a strong pass (grade 5) in English and Mathematics, with Cressex students achieving 44% against national average of 39.6% in the first year of the new ‘tougher’ GCSE exams. This success extends to our disadvantaged students, i.e. those receiving the pupil premium, who celebrated exceptional progress in English and Mathematics.
"We are delighted with these results. They are by some way the best the school has ever achieved and, most importantly, they open doors for our students for future study and careers. Well done to all of the students and staff who worked so hard for this success, and to families for their support," said David Hood, Headteacher.
The performance tables show that students at Cressex have made better progress than students nationally, with a Progress 8 score of +0.2. Pleasingly the success at Cressex also extends to the school sixth form with the average grade being achieved by students is a ‘Distinction’.
Cressex Community School is ambitious and will continue to build on its strengths on its journey towards being an ‘outstanding’ school.
